FAQs

Where is cocoa spice cakery located?

We are at 3/110 Bulcock Street, Caloundra. In the Sunshine Coast.

How much are your cakes?

Each cake price differs. You can check our our online store to get a guide on cake sizes and prices. For custom cakes the price depends on: size, style, decorations, time, etc.

How can I order a custom cake?

Use our Enquiry form after looking at the Custom Cake Info.
Make sure to include the cake size/ serving amount, the theme, inspiration photos and flavour(s). The more information the better for us so we can get a quote back to you ASAP.

Do you create fondant cakes?

No we don’t, we work exclusively with delicious buttercream and ganache to cover and decorate our cakes.

When should I order my cake?

Our website range of cakes require at least 7 days minimum notice.
For custom cakes we require at least 2 weeks notice. However, the earlier the better! We only have limited space and storage for our cakes so we can get booked out on any one date weeks-months in advance, especially in spring due to wedding season!

Do you make novelty and carved cakes?

We do not, however we can still create our cakes with your theme in mind.

Do you offer delivery?

We have limited spots for delivery. We only provide delivery only for large (3+) tier wedding and celebration cakes. Please organize someone to pick up your cake if you can’t yourself within our business hours.
Delivery is charged as $1.50 per km travelled from our store to the destination and return.
Late pick-ups will incur a fee.

Do you offer wedding cake / cake tastings and consults?

We suggest if you’re wanting to taste test a range of flavours to come in store and pick up a mixed pack of cupcakes. This way you can choose what flavours you think you’ll like, try them at home and get back to us. We can mix and match cake and buttercream flavours to suit your needs for custom cakes. Also, our cupcakes use the exact same batter and buttercreams as our cakes!
As for our consultation we prefer to do this via email so this doesn’t effect our time in the kitchen when we are needed!

I have the image of the cake design I want, can I send it to you to replicate?

At Cocoa Spice Cakery, we value artistic integrity of other cake designers. We will never exactly copy or replicate the designs of other cake makers. We can use images as a reference and as inspiration but we will always have our own finishing touches and personal brand of cake styling, as each cake artist does. To be sure you’re happy with the way we decorate our cakes check out our Instagram and facebook pages.

Do you cater to dietary requirements?

Yes we do. We can make gluten-free, dairy free, egg free and vegan cakes.
But we cannot make sugar free cakes – sorry!

Do I have to pay up front for my cake order?

For our online range – yes you do.
For custom cake orders: you must pay the full invoice amount at least 14 days prior to your cakes collection day – this will ensure your cake is booked in with us. We will send you a reminder of your invoice and if there is no payment made the cake order with be cancelled.
We must be strict with our payment policy as we cannot afford to waste time and ingredients on 'no-shows' and be stuck with custom cakes we cannot sell!

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations 7 days or less from pick up date will result in NO refund and NO credit issued.
Cancellations 8-13 days before pick up result in 50% refund or a free rebooking date for the order.
Cancellations 14 days or more from pick up date result in full refund or a free rebooking date for the order.

How should I transport the cake after collection?

Check out the Cake Care Guide... The cake box must be picked up from the base – do not place or press your hands into the sides of the cake box.
It is best transported on a flat level surface- such as the passenger side floor or the car boot (if it’s cold enough back there). You may need a towel to be placed underneath to provide a non-slip surface. Make sure the aircon is on and your car is nice and cool. If these aren’t available options the passenger can carry the cake placed on their lap.

Do I have to refrigerate my cake when I get home / to the venue?

Yes you do. It’s best for the cake to be stored in the fridge until required. Our cakes are best eaten at room temperature.
Smaller cakes we recommend taking out of the fridge 2 hours prior to serving.
Medium-Large cakes we recommend taking out of the fridge 4 hours prior to serving.
If the cake is needed for a display make sure its out of the sun in a cool room (20-24 degrees celcius is ideal). Our cakes last a while on display, if they are displayed correctly! We have had cakes on displays at wedding expos for 8+ hours without any problems :)
Eating the cake at room temperature is optimal for flavour and texture!

How long will I be able to store my cake for?

If you happen to have left over cake after an event it can be stored in an airtight container or cling wrap in the fridge for up to 7 days or the freezer for 3 months.
